Travel & directions

Airports:

  • Cologne Bonn airport (CGN, 30min taxi 40€/person or 40min bus every 30min to Bonn) serves Airberlin, Germanwings, Ryanair (but not Geneva) and some other low-cost airlines.
  • Frankfurt airport (FRA, 30min taxi 40€/person to Siegburg, then 40min high-speed train, 70€ or Frankfurt-Bonn high-speed train (via Siegburg, Cologne or Mainz) 1.5h, 70€) Lufthansa, for instance, flies hourly from Geneva to Frankfurt on Tuesday 14-19, with last flight from Geneva at 19:35. On Friday the last Frankfurt-Geneva flight is at 21:10. Flight costs GVA-FRA starting from 300 CHF.
  • Dusseldorf airport (DUS, hourly train to Bonn main station, direct connection, travel time about 1h, 34€). Direct flights GVA-DUS with Germanwings but also SWISS via Zurich could be an option. 3 direct flights (9am, 5pm, 9pm) from Geneva and 7am, 3pm, 7pm to Geneva. 4 flights via Zurich (6am, 1am, 6 pm) with ~1h stop in Zurich from GVA or even more flights with a longer stop. Flight costs starting from 200 CHF.
  • Weeze airport (2.5h train to Bonn). Ryanair as cheap as 30€.

Train:

Train to Bonn main station taking about 7 - 8 hours from Geneva and also an option from many places in central Europe. Cost of ticket to Geneva is 160-190€ depending on connection. Book via  bahn.de

Car:

Car can be used as well, travel time from Geneva to Bonn is approximately 7 - 8 hours. Please contact the local organising committee for parking tickets at the university.
